INCONEL® ALLOY 740H®
Answers for Global Energy Challenges
With global energy demand dramatically rising, the pressure is on coal-fired, natural gas, nuclear, and renewable power generation units to adopt technology that improves efficiency, increases reliability, and lessens their environment impact.
Integrated Solutions for Power Gen Problems
The innovative new INCONEL® alloy 740H® Steam Header brings together the metallurgical and manufacturing expertise of PCC Energy Group companies Special Metals and Wyman Gordon to help power generation facilities better manage today’s new high-pressure, high-temperature demands.
INCONEL® alloy 740H® Steam Header
This prototype demonstrates our ability to manufacture tubes large enough for Advanced Ultra-Supercritical (A-USC) steam header pipes—delivering the strength and corrosion-resistant properties demanded by A-USC boiler environments.

Technically Brilliant
The unit is over 15 inches (381 mm) in diameter, has a wall more than three inches (76.2 mm) in thickness, is 22-feet (6.7 m) long and weighs over 10,000 pounds (4,535 kg). In addition, standard superheater-size tubes from INCONEL® Alloy 740H® have been manufactured in the United Kingdom and United States.
The Superalloy Solution
INCONEL® alloy 740H® is the innovative new superalloy for A-USC applications, delivering a combination of strength and creep resistance at temperatures up to 1,500°F. It’s resistant to coal ash corrosion, oxidation, carburization and sulfidation, and is approved by the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Case 2702 for Section I construction for power applications.
